Delete your account and data

How to permanently delete your SquareGames account and everything linked to it — and what happens to subscriptions and venues when you do.

Deleting your account is immediate and cannot be undone. Your game history, preferences and profile are removed straight away. Download a copy first from Settings → Account → Your data if you want one.

Delete it yourself (recommended)

  1. Sign in to SquareGames on the website or in the app.
  2. Go to Settings → Account.
  3. In Danger zone at the bottom, choose Delete account.
  4. Type your account email to confirm.

This works however you signed up — email and password, Google, Apple or Facebook.

Before you delete

  • A plan bought on our website is cancelled for you when you delete your account. If we can't reach our payment processor at that moment, nothing is deleted and you can try again.
  • A plan bought through the App Store or Google Play is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it in that store's subscription settings, or the store will keep charging you.
  • If you are the only owner of a venue with an active Venue plan, cancel the plan or add another owner in the venue console first.

If you can't sign in

Email us from the address on your account:

Subject: Data Deletion Request

Include: the email on your account, your username if you know it, and how you signed up (email, Google, Apple or Facebook).

We verify the request and complete it within 30 days.

What gets deleted

  • Account information: name, email, username, date of birth, profile picture
  • Game activity: your game history and activity records
  • Preferences: settings, notification preferences and notification tokens
  • Sign-in: your password, and your connections to Google, Apple or Facebook

Things you created that belong to other people too — messages you sent in a shared chat, for example — stay for them but are no longer linked to you.

What we keep

  • Purchase records: without your name, for as long as tax and accounting law requires
  • Legal records: information we are required by law to keep
  • Aggregated statistics: anonymized numbers that cannot identify you
  • Security logs: records needed to prevent fraud and abuse, for a limited period

Deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten; it is not restored from them.

Disconnecting Google, Apple or Facebook

Deleting your SquareGames account removes our link to your Google, Apple or Facebook sign-in. To also remove SquareGames from that account's list of connected apps:

  • Facebook: Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → SquareGames → Remove.
  • Apple: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → SquareGames → Stop Using Apple ID.
  • Google: myaccount.google.com/connections → SquareGames → Delete all connections.
